Identity-provider selection

Signing-in

In the Identity-provider section, choose which identity you will use to authenticate to access the Virgo Interferometer Monitor (VIM) pages.

Using the Virgo Interferometer Monitor (VIM)

VIM provides current and historical plots and information relating to the status of the Advanced Virgo interferometer and to the related on-line analysis applications.

You are accessing the General-Availability instance of VIM, which participates in the international Research & Scholarship Identity Federation.

The General-Availablity instance of VIM provides data with a time delay of the order of a few minutes with respect to the internal, production instance.

Note also that the General-Availablity instance is a read-only version, so ,even after authentication, you cannot modify your page configurations or resources. This can be done on the internal instance only.

Should you wish to modify configurations or resources, please connect to the Internal instance, following pre-authentication at the level of the Cascina firewall using your local Active Directory credentials.

Also be aware that some of the links within the VIM pages may point to other internal applications, which have not yet been migrated to the Federated Authentication. Also in this case, please follow the Cascina firewall pre-authentication step (Further information on this subject is available here).

During a federated authentication following data is retrieved from your Home Organisation:
  1. For all users:
    • IP address
    • Referer address
  2. Only for authenticated users:
    • the EduPersonPrincipalName provided by your Home Organisation

The EduPersonPrincipalName attribute is declared as required.

    • Indirizzo IP
    • Indirizzo HTTP Referer
  2. Solo per gli utenti autenticati:
    • l'attributo EduPersonPrincipalName rilasciato dalla sua Organizzazione

L'attributo EduPersonPrincipalName è dichiarato come required (R) per accedere al servizio.

The IP and referer addresses of all web page visitors, and the EduPersonPrincipalName attribute for authenticated users, are stored in the web server log file for debugging purposes. Gli indirizzi IP e HTTP Referer degli utenti connessi e l'attributo EduPersonPrincipalName per gli utenti autenticati sono salvati nei file di log del server web con lo scopo di risolvere eventuali problemi di connessione.

Personal data, IP address and referrer are only stored in log files created by the web server and the SAML software. Log files are kept only for 6 months and are deleted automatically after this time. I dati personali, gli indirizzi IP e HTTP Refere sono salvati nei file di log creati dal server web e dal software SAML. I file di log sono conservati per 6 mesi e cancellati automaticamente.

Personal data will be protected according to the Code of Conduct for Service Providers, a common standard for the research and higher education sector to protect the user's privacy.
